Vinted Users Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates

Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.

Online Platforms Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.

The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Updates

Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

User Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Manual Updates

A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Service Background

The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
